The Academy runs evening coaching sessions on a weekly basis. The classes are structured by young people who are enrolled in sessions suitable to their age and ability. The classes are structured in the first instance by age. The sessions run for approximately 1-2 hours; the older classes run for 2 hours. Sessions includes football skills, development of physical skills and personal and social development.
An initial assessment of the participant’s general capabilities is made; this enables the coach to benchmark the young person and measure any subsequent development in their performance. Individual support is given, to enable the individual’s progression at their own pace, through the various levels to the academy’s elite centres.
Furthermore, these sessions divert young people away from the streets and possible involvement in anti-social behaviour, crime, etc and look to channel their energy in a positive and healthy manner.
