Street Work Soccer will be providing young people with opportunities to enrol on further education courses. We will support each student throughout the duration of their particular course and work to re-engage those who have rejected education in the past.

Leeds City College Thomas Danby Campus in Partnership with Street Work Soccer will be offering Sporting Chance Students post 16 the following courses depending on pre entry qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 1 Sport and Outdoor Recreation - Entry requirements - genuine interest in all sporting activities.NVQ Level 2 Sport and Activity Leadership - Entry requirements - 4 or more GCSE Grades D - G
  • NVQ level 2 Football Coaching - Entry requirements - interest and aptitude in Sport and Football - 4 or more GCSE Grade D – G
  • First Diploma Sports Studies Level 2- Entry reqts - 4 GCSE Grade D - E
  • National Certificate Sport Development and Fitness Level 3- Entry reqts 4 GCSE Grades C or above or a BTEC First Diploma/GNVQ (Intermediate Level) at merit/distinction standard.

    All students studying the above courses are able to play and train with the Football Development Team. Training is on Monday 10 - 12, Tuesday 2-3pm, Thursday 9 - 11 and Friday 3 - 5pm. Games are played on Wednesday 12 - 5pm,.
    Students undertaking the NVQ level 2 Football Coaching, emphasis is on football and football industry.

    • All students will undertake a work-placement relative to their field of study.
    • All learners applying for course will undertake a trial with the football development centre, a curriculum interview and basic skills assessment.
    • All learners will undertake a CRB check. (Due to undertaking work-placement)

    All learners will be supported through their programmes, by the individual course tutors and through the group and individual tutorial system, which monitors attendance, progression, and at risk learners. If through our effective monitoring systems an at risk learners is highlighted, Leeds City College  would like  Street Work Soccer to assist in keeping the learner on track, through discussion with tutors or attending meetings.
    All learners have the opportunities to engage in enrichment opportunities to address all the 5 themes of ' Every Child Matters'. Moving on, Students may progress onto the next level within college, or through the early application scheme at Leeds Met University. Former students have gone on to pursue football careers, including scholarships in Florida, Ohio and New York.
